I must first thank all of you for your sweet comments, texts and e mails about my grandfather yesterday. It truly meant so much and I am so thankful for so many wonderful friends and relatives. I'm lucky lucky lucky.
Now onto today's post....
It's been many years since the entire family has been in Greenwood overnight -- including spouses -- so Grammy insisted that "the kids" stay at The Alluvian.
There were no arguments.
Again, gotta love a small town -- my Dad's younger brother's wife, my hilarious and always fun Aunt Beth, is the manager of The Alluvian! Between my siblings and myself, we've visited the spa and taken Viking cooking classes there but have never stayed at the hotel because we've always stayed with my grandparents. We were all excited to stay at the beautiful hotel, a small silver lining in the sad circumstance.
After checking in, the kids gathered in the bar downstairs and wrote notes to my grandmother that my Mom would later hide throughout her house, a fun tradition we have done for many many years. It's funny to get a phone call months later hearing Grammy laughing about some ridiculous note she found hidden between blankets in the closet!
A night spent in a fresh and fluffy bed with a delicious breakfast the next morning...aaaahhhhhhh.
The Alluvian was fabulous, as I expected. Maybe the next time I have the privilege of staying there it will be for a happier occasion!
I didn't hear about your grandfather...I am very sorry..I was really close with my paternal granpa so I know it is tough =( ..I love your hotel posts because I love staying in hotels, makes me itch to go on vacation though lol
