For me, I have to carefully pack. I don't like surprises and I am always prepared - so I have to try on every outfit and here's the kicker -- I actually photograph myself in the outfit. For example, on this particular trip I need 5 cute outfits. I tried on about 10 -- took photos in each of them. When you can scan through the pictures back to back on your phone it's obvious which make the cut and which don't.
You know that feeling that you think you packed some cute outfits and then when you look in the mirror when you're on vacation you think, "this is fugly?" I've found that taking pictures of the outfits helps eliminate that fugly-outfit-on-vacation moment.
Let's get started.
A couple days before departure I'll pull out my suitcase. I think the visual helps me brainstorm what I should take in the days ahead.
As I brainstorm, I'll throw some items in there so when I do start the packing process, I have some items I've already considered to work with.
Then I'll start trying on. On this particular occasion I tried on while I watched Duck Dynasty. LOVE.
I just thought I would share what works for me. I love reading packing tips, my grandmother who was a flight attendant in the glam 1950s STILL has ridiculously amazing packing skills. She always has what she needs but that bag is like Mary Poppins -- it's so small but she gets everything in there!
Another packing tip that works for me: I have travel size shampoo/conditioner, pepto, tylenol, toothpaste, lotion, etc. that I keep in my travel case. When it's time to go somewhere I can simply pull it out, add a hairbrush and a few other things and I'm good to go.
Do you have any secret packing skills? I like these packing tips from Marie Claire if you're traveling by flight.
