Chandelier Before and After

Some of you may have read here or here that I've been on the hunt for a light fixture/chandelier to replace the one in the den.

Thanks to a $43 consignment find -- I've been thrilled with the lighting update.

I found it similar to this chandelier from Ballard Designs at $199.

Unfortunately taking off the white hurricanes didn't give it much improvement.

I wanted a simple chandelier and it had to be a little rustic to go with the architecture of the den.  For only $43, I couldn't pass this one up.  For that kind of price I have the option of leaving it in the house whenever I move out and consider it a permanent home improvement!

Hospital Table=BeezNeez or "Hospital Chic" or The Lazy Table

Recently I decided that I needed a small side table with wheels that I could use as a laptop table. I often need something that I can "wheel" close to me to use as a temporary desktop and I'm tired of using a lapboard (but I still love the lapboard you made for me at camp Sarah Thorne!).

While perusing online I was SHOCKED to see that anything cool was $$$.

I liked all of these but was hoping to spend around $50, max.  Thank you Amazon -- enter the hospital table!!

**Strange...it was $46 a few weeks ago--sorry! They must have heard Kathleen Williams was about to blog about it and upped the price. TACKY.**

This thing needed to be spray painted, stat.

Shortest height

Tallest height=MAJOR BONUS.  Use this by the couch, by the bed, in the kitchen when your laptop takes up too much counterspace and you're watching a youtube recipe tutorial (what? I've never done that).

This thing is AMAZING.  It's not like it's going to be on display...I can shove it in one of the three empty rooms when I'm not using it, but I have a feeling I'll be using it on the reg.  So yes, I'm a grandma now, I live alone, I have a stray cat who now lives in my house and I use a hospital table.  IT'S FINE, I'M FINE WITH IT.

I think this is the table version of the Forever Lazy.

Plus, if Karen comes back to visit/hang my new chandeliers and falls off the ladder, I can use this when she's bedridden with a broken hip.  Just kidding y'all!! Tap dancing for 12+ years has given her great balance, she ain't gon' fall!!

Etsy Throw Pillows

With the help of a friend I've realized that Etsy is the MECCA for the most adorbs and original throw pillows for great prices.

And the two pillows I decided on from Olive & Garland's Etsy Shop:

I bought two 22 x 22 feather down pillow inserts in anticipation for their arrival.  I'm pleased with the turnout!

House Tour: Before & Afters

I've FINALLY gotten some photos together to show y'all!!!
Keep in mind this house is still a work in progress, I'm adding/making/creating/buying/sprucing everyday.  I'm hoping to keep everyone posted as new things are done, BUT here is a taste for now.

I'll take you in through the front door...

I'm was immediately exploring different light fixtures to replace this one.  I found a rustic chandelier to stay in theme with the feel of the room for under $40 from a consignment store!

I haven't painted the built-in shelves because I'm not quite sure how they would look next to the darker brick...I thought they might need to stay brown.  Any suggestions?

Book paper wreath post here.

Cork wreath post here.

Who's coming over for a drink?

The curtians needed some TLC--you can see they were coming apart at the bottom left.

Entry way--the curtains block the formerly empty living and dining room, which have now been created into Christian's man cave (living room) and a storage room (dining room).

Down the hallway to the Master Bedroom and Hair & Makeup...

Master Bedroom

Hair & Makeup

Enter into Hair & Makeup -- CHBoo's idea --  a room to house all my girly!  And yes, the room was already yellow.  I didn't feel like painting it.

I had just the "KW" and Christian helped me hang the "B" after we got engaged - it makes me smile as we countdown the days to 11/10/12!

The curtains came from the attic...they were the curtians in mine and my sister's nursery when were babies.   Everything old is new again!

Guest Bedroom

That's about it for now, friends.  Keep in mind the ONLY furniture that was newly bought in this house were the two mirrored side tables on either side of the bed in the master bedroom, the master headboard and the two club chairs in the den -- everything else came from the apartment or my parents glorious attic.  For recycled goods, I must admit, I'm very pleased.

NONE of this would've been possible with the help from my fabulous mother.  Alan, Karen and Christian were here to help me clean, paint, create, craft and glue this place together.  THANK YOU so much!!  I love y'all!!!
